The MTC was amazing! It was so uplifting to go into even the cafeteria and feel the Spirit emanate everywhere! The following picture is something that caught my eye EVERY time we went into the cafeteria. It really touched my heart. For this shot - as there were only 1 or 2 jackets when I actually had my camera, I asked a group of Elders sitting at a table if they would put their suit coats up for me for a shot. They all instantly did it. Talk about helpful!
Sister Morris and I would purposely sit by the younger missionaries and talk with them about where they were headed, where they lived, how excited and enthused they were to get to their missions to share the gospel! How could we not just love the Spirit, and love the place! Then to be there during General Conference; to have the electricity flow through the gym where we watched, and to have the choir from the MTC sing. We also had the priviledge of hearing them sing at a devotional before Conference, and another song at a devotional after Conference, and if that wasn't enough, we stayed after the devotional to hear them practice. It was great!
Here is a photo of the Provo Temple. Sister Morris and I cannot figure out how the time got away from us that we did not take the opportunity to go to a session there.
These two brethren were our MTC "Preach My Gospel" instructors, which training we attended the first week at the MTC. The first is Brother Hawkes, on the left, who so reminded me of Justin it was unnerving. He would give us instruction in the morning. On the right is Brother Hepworth, who would give us our afternoon instruction. Both were attending BYU as students. They were very nice young men who put up with us "Senior" Missionaries, and making all kinds of mistakes in learning to preach the gospel. They were of great help to us! KEEP IT SIMPLE!!! KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!! No! It is not okay to talk about the war in heaven on a 1st visit!
This is our "Preach My Gospel District.
Good, good people ~
This is a group shot of all the "senior" missionaries that entered the MTC the same day Sister Morris and I did. These are Welfare - Humanitarian and Employment, and Member/Leader Support combined. I think there was 39 "companionships", going all over the world.
Here is the Welfare Employment Group. Four of the five single, senior sister missionary companionships were Employment missionaries. The fifth companionship that arrived when we did went to Indiana (?) as Family History Missionaries to photograph and (?) preserve documents for the Library.
We had some sisters who had the BEST senses of humor! Oh my goodness - we laughed so much! It all went very quickly and ended so fast! We left that atmosphere of Spirit and love, and headed out into the lone and dreary world! (travelling the high desert of California!)
These next two shots are of the MTC as we were leaving. What a blessing to have been there! What a blessing to serve Heavenly Father as He wants me to! I know Heavenly Father is with me. My heart is filled with thankfulness for His goodness and mercy. Onward and upward! And goodnight!
Love, Sister Ure
